Borders is closing a customer care center located at its 564,000 square foot distribution center in La Vergne, Tennessee.  The Nashville Post, which reported the layoffs, reported that the DC itself is closing, which is not correct.

The shutdown, which will take place on December 23rd, will eliminate 93 jobs, according to the report.

Borders is under significant stress (see “Sales Fall, Losses Increase at Borders”), and is attempting to reduce expenses to return to profitability.
