With the expansion of day and date digital titles from Image (see “Image Goes Digital Day and Date”), the percentage of comic releases that are being released digitally on the same day as print is approaching critical mass.  Roughly 40% of the new print comic releases this week were released by comiXology on Wednesday.
Publishers are gaining confidence in the concept as evidence grows that day and date releases do not negatively impact print sales.  DC’s print sales in the wake of its bold move to convert its entire line to day and date digital with the New 52 (see "DC Completes Sweep") have been the clearest indication yet that digital sales are not cannibalizing print.
