A strong month for floppies continued the 2006 increase in comic sales, with an 8% increase in comic periodical sales overcoming an 8% decline in graphic novel sales to produce a 5% increase over-all in sales of comics and graphic novels to North American comic stores in February.

Combined comic and graphic novel sales were also up over January, an unusual occurrence for what is generally the weakest month of the year.

Special issues had more to do with the increases than launches, which were noticeably absent from the bestseller list this month.
