Ares Games plans to release the first products for the new Wings of Glory WW1 line in April.  The first product will be the Rules and Accessories Pack, with six new model sets also planned.

The Pack will include all of the current rules for the WW1 version of the game, including basic, standard, advanced, and optional rules, as well as those specific to special models, such as balloons and bombers.  In addition to the game rules, four decks of special damage cards are included, as are four airplane consoles, two rules, and game counters.

As this pack does not include miniatures, it will not be a stand-alone product.  Players will require either a Starter Set or at least two of the Airplane Packs.

Ares Games’ CEO Christoph Cianci explains: “We decided to publish this Rules and Accessories Pack to provide a complete starting point to our range.  This will benefit both new players, and those who already own miniatures sets from the Wings of War brand.  Gamers will be able to start playing with the first Wings of Glory WW1 release, The Bombers Special Pack, and all Airplane Packs and Special Packs that will come in the future.”

The rules and components in this pack are fully compatible with the earlier Wings of War series of games, originally produced by Nexus and acquired by Ares Games in 2011 (see “Ares Games Acquires ‘Wings of War’”).  At the time of the acquisition, Ares Games had announced plans to focus first on the Wings of Glory WW2 line, but has shifted efforts to the WW1 line.

The new model sets scheduled to release around the same time as the Rules and Accessories Pack will include The Bombers Special Packs for the Caproni Ca. 3 and the Gotha G.V.  Packs featuring the Fokker E.III, Halberstadt D.III, Morane-Saulnier, and the Airco D.H.2 will also be available at that time.
