As ICv2 first reported (see 'Chabon Series In Development'), Dark Horse comics is preparing to publish the first issue of a new comic series created by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Michael Chabon.  Chabon won the Pulitzer for his novel The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, which is set primarily in the late 1930s and early 1940s during the birth of the comic book industry and tells the story of two young men who create a popular comic book character known as The Escapist.  The new Dark Horse anthology series will present tales of The Escapist and his cohorts set in the style of various comic book eras from the 1940s to the present.  Chabon will guide the direction of the series as well as contribute original stories.  The other artists and writers who will participate in the series will be announced in the coming months.  The first 80-page issue (in a glorious homage to the lengthy formats of the Golden Age of comics, all the issues will be 80-pages in length) is scheduled for release in December of 2003.
