TwoMorrows Publishing has announced plans to publish three books for comics fans in May: Image Comics: The Road to Independence, Work Methods: Comic Creators Detail Their Storytelling and Artistic Processes, and Brush Strokes with Greatness:  The Life and Art of Joe Sinnott.

Image Comics, by George Khoury, follows the 15-year history of Image Comics with interviews with founders Erik Larsen, Jim Lee, Todd McFarlane, Whilce Portacio, Marc Silvestri and Jim Valentino and rare art by those and other Image creators.  The book also  promises to offer the behind-the-scenes low-down on Image's successes and failures.  Image Comics is a 280-page trade paperback with an interior color section and lists for $34.95.

In Working Methods, author John Lowe explores the creative development of comic books by showing examples of how different artists interpret the same scripts.  Creators Mark Schultz, Tim Levins, Jim Mahfood, Scott Hampton, Kelsey Shannon, Chris Brunner, Sean Murphy, and Pat Quinn are used for this exercise.  The book includes interviews with the artists and hundreds of illustrated examples of their problem-solving and development process. Working Methods is a 204-page trade paperback with an interior color section and lists for $21.95.

Brush Strokes with Greatness:  The Life and Times of Joe Sinnott is a 136 page trade paperback that explores the long career of Joe Sinnott, who began with Stan Lee at Timely Comics in the 40s, and eventually became Marvel's top inker, working on almost every title published by Marvel from the 60s through the 80s.  It's written by Tim Lasiutta, with a foreword by Stan Lee and an afterword by Mark Evanier.  MSRP for the book, which is primarily b/w with a color section, is $17.95.  Street date is May 23rd.
