Famed RPG designer Monte Cook will pen a new 32-page adventure for Paizo’s Pathfinder RPG for release in July 2010.  In Curse of the Riven Sky, the heroes seek a wizard with giantish blood to help them complete an ancient ritual with the key to power and fortune.  The $13.99 module is a wilderness adventure for 10th level characters, featuring roleplaying encounters and problem solving.

Cook had previously announced that he was ending his RPG writing (see “Monte Cook’s World of Darkness”) in favor of a career as an author.  Curse of the Riven Sky will be his first new RPG work since 2007.

Curse of the Riven Sky will be Cook’s “first significant creative design work for Paizo,” according to Paizo, but he's been involved with the company in other ways.  Cook was listed as a rules consultant on the initial Pathfinder design (see “Monte Cook Working on Pathfinder RPG”).  And Paizo published Monte Cook's Collected Book of Experimental Might (Malhavoc), a 144-page collection of options and new rules to enhance 3.5 campaigns that had previously been available only as PDFs, earlier this year.
