IDW Publishing has announced the September publication of the next volume in its Eisner Award-winning Artist’s Edition series, Joe Kubert’s Tarzan of the Apes. Kubert has been a major creative force in the world of comics since the 1940s with notable runs on Hawkman, Enemy Ace, Tor, and Sgt. Rock.  Also among his notable achievements was his work on the Tarzan comic book series, which is celebrated in this volume, which reproduces Kubert’s art at its original size scanned in color in order to mimic as closely as possible the experience of actually viewing the original art.

 

This Artist’s Edition collects six complete Kubert Tarzan adventures, including the four-part origin story.  The art is displayed so that viewers can see paste-overs, blue pencils in the art, editorial notes, and corrections.  The deluxe, 156-page, 11" x 17" hardcover volume will be available in September for $100.
