The CW is in talks to acquire the rights to Japanese manga Battle Royale for a TV series, according to the Los Angeles Times. The talks are for development of an hour-long drama series, according to the report.
The manga was previously adapted into two live action films in Japan, but development of a U.S. feature has stalled (see "'Battle Royale' Won’t Happen").
Battle Royale has similarities to Hunger Games; it tells the story of high school kids battling to the death in a future world.
