We are now less than a month away from the premiere of the first episode of the third season of The Walking Dead TV series and the AMC network has released two new stills from the new season.  The first shows a bunch of survivors on the run from a group of walkers in the show’s new prison setting. The second is a close-up child actor Chandler Riggs as Carl, who also appears prominently in the first still as one of the survivors running from a group of zombies, and who reportedly plays a key role in the upcoming season.  Both of these stills from AMC’s adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s Image Comic book series were released by AMC to the TV Line website.

In other Walking Dead news, USA Today reports that starting on October 1st AMC will release a series of four 5-minute short films directed by Greg Nicotero, the show’s makeup and special effects wizard.  The four shorts form a story, which AMC has labeled "Cold Storage," that takes place in the early days of the zombie apocalypse.  A boy named Chase (Josh Stewart) attempts to reach his sister in the days after the plague has hit.  He finds "shelter" in a cold storage facility.  In addition to Stewart the webisodes also feature actor Daniel Roebuck (Matlock), who played Doc Arzt in Lost.
