A number of HeroClix promotional items are going to market, through a change in WizKids’ policy for some organized play items, and through the release of a new SKU of (formerly) promotional items.

WizKids announced changes to its current Promotional Product Licensing Agreement (WKPPLA) which allow for retail sales of select organized play promotional material.  Select products (listed below) which were previously covered under the WKPPLA have been released for resale as of November 20th:

  • Marvel HeroClix: Avengers v X-Men (four monthly OP kits)
  • Marvel HeroClix: Infinity Gauntlet (eight monthly OP kits)
  • DC Comics HeroClix: No Man’s Land (six monthly OP kits)
  • Marvel HeroClix: Fear Itself (six monthly OP kits, and boosters previously released from WKPPLA)
WizKids CEO Justin Ziran emphasized that all other products covered under the WKPPLA still carry restrictions.  “I want to make it clear that stores that have sold, or are currently selling, items that are covered under the WKPPLA face restrictions up to and including a banning from carrying WizKids OP material and in extreme cases, can be banned from carrying ALL WizKids products (Retail, Promotional or Organized Play),” Ziran told ICv2.

WizKids is releasing a DC HeroClix: War of Light 24 Ct. Gravity Feed, which includes 56 War of Light Constructs that were previously only available through their ‘Con in Your Store’ Enormous Kits (see "WizKids 'Con in Your Store' Promotion"), on February 4th.  The single foil packs will have MSRP of $1.99.  The 60-piece set includes:  7 each of Violet, Red, Indigo, Orange, Yellow, Blue, Black, and White Constructs, as well as 4 new Green Constructs.  Each pack will include a Construct and Card.

The DC HeroClix: War of Light OP storyline launched in June (see "'DC HeroClix: War of Light'"), and included a 96-figure set that was theoretically only available through tournament participation; some sellers violated the WKPPLA and sold the product for premium profit on eBay (for a column and a Talk Back on the topic, see "Rolling for Initiative--'War of Light' and Shortsighted Retailers!" and "Ken Solo of Checkmate Game & Hobbies on 'War of Light' OP Kits").
