FOX is beginning work on a remake of the1980's hit series The A-Team, Deadline is reporting.

This new show brings together executive producer Chris Morgan (Fast & Furious) and director Tawnia McKiernan (ER, Warehouse 13), daughter of Stephen J. Cannell, the original showrunner for the classic show; Albert Kim (Sleepy Hollow) will be writing the adaptation.

The original The A-Team was a wildly popular action-adventure series featuring four former members of the American Special Forces turned mercenary, framed for a crime they didn't commit. An episodic mission-of-the-week show, the original starred George Peppard, Dwight Shultz, Dirk Benedict, and Mr. T, and ran 97 episodes. The new team will likewise feature a diverse cast, with the addition of female members.

This is not the first time The A-Team has been re-imagined. In 2010, 20th Century Fox released The A-Team as a movie, albeit to lackluster reviews and box office receipts (see "Top Ten Summer Movies of 2010").

IDW Publishing produced two graphic novels tied to the 2010 movie adaptation (see "'A-Team' Helmer Plots GN").
