New York Comic Con News: Yen Press announced eight new licensed manga and light novel series for 2016, including Space Dandy, Dimension W , and The Boy and the Beast .

American audiences will recognize Space Dandy from the anime series, which appeared on Adult Swim’s Toonami block. The first season of the series was released by Funimation to home media this spring (see “DVD Round-Up: 'MockingJay, Part 1,' 'Adventure Time,' & 'Space Dandy'”). Written by Masafumi Harada, with art by Sung-Woo Park, the manga series follows Dandy as he travels the galaxies with his companions in search of alien life.

Dimension W is a series by Yuji Iwahara (Cat Paradise, King of Thorn, Darker Than Black).  The sci-fi series takes place in a world where the energy crisis has been “solved, “ but the solution also has given rise to a new type of criminal mayhem.

Corpse Party: Blood Covered is written Makoto Kendouin, with art by Toshimi Shinomiya. An earthquake transports the students of Kisaragi Academy to an alternate world of murder and mayhem.

Scumbag Loser by Makoto Yamaguchi is a horror thriller about a an unpopular student who makes up a fake long-distance girlfriend, but then she suddenly turns up as a new transfer student!

Unhappy Go Lucky is a manga series by Cotoji.  A trio of friends who all belong to the unluckiest class in Tennogofune Academy decide to seize the day and make the most of their school lives.

Based on a film of the same name by the director of Wolf Children, The Boy and the Beast license includes both a manga by Renji Asai, and a novel by Mamoru Hosoda.  The story follows a young boy from Tokyo who meets a beast from another realm and befriends him.

Psycome is a novel by Mizuki Mizushiro, with illustrations by Namanie. Kyosuke Kamiya is sentenced to Purgatorium rehabilitation Academy for a crime he didn’t commit.  His fellow inmates are all attractive girls, and they’re also all convicted murderers.

Overlord is a novel and manga series where players of the online game Yggdrasil refuse to log off when the game is discontinued.  Those who were logged in at the moment of shutdown where transported into the game world made real.  The novel is written by Kugane Maruyama, with illustrations by so-bin; and the manga is done by Fugin Miyama.
