Over 200 brick and mortar stores that hadn’t been carrying Warmachine and Hordes have committed to stock the new editions of the games (see "Privateer Announces New 'Warmachine' and 'Hordes' Editions") as a result of Privateer Press' new policy on online retailing (see "Privateer Axes Offending Online Retailers"), the company announced.  Privateer’s "Free Rider" policy targets online retailers selling at deep discounts without additional services, and sanctions distributors that sell to them.

All of Privateer’s North American Distributors have agreed to support the new policy, the company said.  Privateer listed nine distributors:  ACD, Aladdin, Alliance, E-Figures, Gamus (GTS), Golden, Lion Rampant, Peachstate Hobby (PHD), Southern Hobby, and Universal.

Privateer president Sherry Yeary thanked the company’s distributors for their support of the program, but warned that change would take some time.  "We greatly appreciate the support and commitment to the health of brick-and-mortar retailers shown by our North American distribution partners," she said.  "Change won’t happen overnight, and eliminating free rider practices will be an ongoing issue that will take time and a united effort between publishers and distributors to overcome, but we have already seen the positive effect of instituting this policy, and we remain committed to its success, no matter what it takes."

Privateer has sold out of launch kits for the new editions of Warmachine and Hordes at the manufacturer level.
