Marsh offered a reward of two tickets to the next Seattle Seahawks home game if the cards were returned. “Other than god, family and football, my Magic collection is everything,” he said in another tweet. The collection was in a backpack that was stolen from his LR4, which his girlfriend had borrowed for the night while she was at the Aston Manor Nightclub for a concert. Word of Marsh’s plight reached Wizards of the Coast’s Magic headquarters, which is located 20 minutes outside Seattle. WotC sent representatives with a care package for Marsh on Thursday. According to the official Magic: The Gathering Twitter: “Worth noting lots of the product in that care package came from the personal collection of WotC employees who wanted to help out too!” WOTC tweeted that they “will also be donating a gift of equivalent retail value to a Seattle-based children’s charity.”
The 24-year-old Marsh told the Seattle Times that he has been playing Magic since he was 11, and estimates his collection to be worth between $20,000 and $25,000. “It’s not even the money,” Marsh told the Times, “I really enjoy playing the game. To me, that’s what I do to get my mind off things sometimes. You know how people zone out sometimes? That’s how I zone out.”
