Renegade Game Studios has announced a deal with Finnish game publisher Lautapelit.fi to bring Honshu to North America in March 2017 May 17. [Updated 4-11-17]

Designed by Kalle Malmioja (Councils & Contracts), Honshu is a combination trick-taking and tile-laying card game about building cities in feudal Japan.  Players first play cards in tricks, then claim those cards based on the value of the cards they played.  The cards show parts of a Japanese city, and the players use them to build their own personal city map, in a manner similar to tile-laying games.

Honshu was premiered at the Spiel game fair in Essen, Germany this October to a positive reception.  It includes 40 wooden cubes and 84 cards.  The game is intended for 2 to 5 players, ages 8 and up, and plays in about half an hour.  MSRP has not been announced.

Earlier this month, Renegade announced plans for another tile-laying style game, Castles of Caladale (see “Rebuild Fallen Castles in New Tile Game From Renegade”).
