SelfMadeHero has announced their Spring 2017 lineup, which includes a biography of Josephine Baker, a look at David Bowie’s life at Haddon Hall, a history of the crossword puzzle, a glance into the life of painter Paul Gauguin, and more.

Josephine Baker, written by Jose-Luis Bocquet and illustrated by Catel Muller, explores the adored and sometimes-controversial dancer’s life in France. The 496-page black-and-white paperback has an MSRP of $22.95 and will be in stores April 11.

Nejib’s Haddon Hall: When David Invented Bowie examines Bowie’s artistic transformation during his time as the eponymous Victorian villa he occupied with his girlfriend in 1969. The 144-page, full-color hardcover has an MSRP of $22.95. It will be in stores on February 14.

The Can Opener’s Daughter functions both as a stand-alone graphic novel and sequel to Rob Davis’s surrealistic award-winner The Motherless Oven. The darkly inventive story is 136 black-and-white pages. MSRP for the paperback is $19.95, and it will be in stores February 21.

On March 14, crossword enthusiasts can explore the surprisingly intricate history of the puzzle with Paolo Bacilieri’s FUN: Spies, Puzzle Solvers, and a Century of Crosswords. MSRP for the 296-page, two-color hardcover is $24.95.

Also available March 14, Gauguin: The Other World (Art Masters Series) by Fabrizio Dori explores the initial commercial failure of Paul Gauguin’s Tahitian paintings, which are now recognized as masterpieces around the world. The 144-page, full-color paperback has an MSRP of $19.95.

Chris W. Kim explores art, identity, and self-expression in Herman by Trade, the story of a seemingly straight-laced street cleaner–turned–actor and an enigmatic movie director. The 120-page black-and-white hardcover will be in stores May 9. MSRP is $22.95.

Pieter Coudyzer’s Outburst is also available on May 9. This compelling modern fairytale follows beleaguered nerd Tom, who escapes from his cruel reality into his imagination, physically transforming himself into the wilderness that occupies the latter. The 120-page, full-color hardcover has an MSRP of $22.95.
