Modiphius Entertainment has revealed the first set for its new tabletop miniatures game Achtung!  Cthulhu Skirmish.  Originally intended for release in November, the Commander’s Set is now scheduled to hit the streets in February.

Set in an alternative World War II-era earth filled with Lovecraftian horrors, Achtung!  Cthulhu Skirmish pits the operatives of Britain’s super-secret Section M and America’s Majestic against the Nazi cult of the Black Sun and its Cthulhian allies.  The game combines historical military units and horror-themed heroes and monsters in battles fought using miniatures (see “Modiphius Brings ‘Achtung!  Cthulhu’ to Tabletop”).

Written by Matthew Hope (Relic Knights, Wrath of Kings), the game combines the mechanics of Spartan Games’ Dystopian Legions with the themes of the Achtung!  Cthulhu roleplaying game, including Mythos-powered events, spells, and artifacts.  The game system is designed to work with other 28mm historical miniatures already on the market, as well as Modiphius’ already released line of Achtung! Cthulhu miniatures.

The Achtung! Cthulhu Skirmish Commander’s Set will be the starting point for the game’s first story arc, Rise of the Black Sun, which will be the focus for the first wave of miniatures and source materials.  This boxed set will include the 144-page rulebook, 1 template sheet, 1 sheet of tokens, 1 blast template, 1 reference sheet, 15 dice, and a 54-card deck, as well as access to a pdf version of the Forest of Fear storyline and missions.  MSRP is $31.99.

The rulebook will also be available separately, with an MSRP of $18.99.
