Neil Gaiman has signed a multi-year first-look agreement with FremantleMedia North America.

Under the deal, FMNA and Gaiman could adapt any of his prose works, including novels and short stories, and third party source material for television.  he venture includes both original content and existing properties.

Gaiman and FMNA have already partnered on the Starz adaptation of Gaiman’s Hugo and Nebula Award-winning American Gods.  The series debuts on April 30 (see “'American Gods,' 'Black Lightning,' 'Castlevania,' 'MST3K,' 'Inhumans,' Fox's Untitled Marvel Series”).

The deal doesn’t appear to include Gaiman’s graphic novels, but much of that work features characters that Gaiman doesn’t own or adapts his prose. Dark Horse releases much of the latter, including How to Talk To Girls at Parties (see “Dark Horse Round-Up”), Neil Gaiman’s Troll Bridge (see “'Neil Gaiman's Troll Bridge'”), and American Gods (see “'American Gods' Gets Comic Adaptation”).
