IDW Publishing has announced that it will publish Elaine Lee and Michael Kaluta’s Starstruck series, beginning in August.  The 13-issue series will be scanned from the original art, then re-colored by Lee Moyer, a painter who’s done covers for books by Iain Banks, H.P. Lovecraft, and Marion Zimmer Bradley.

The property began as a play by Lee, and has also had a long history in comics.  The first stories were produced for Heavy Metal in the early 80s.  Marvel released a graphic novel collection and an Epic comic series.  And Dark Horse also began reprinting the material in the 90s.

The storyline concerns the offspring of two powerful houses who vie for wealth and dominance in an anarchic universe.

“Galactic Girl Guides,” by Lee, Kaluta, and with inks by Charles Vess, will be included as backup features in each issue.
