The fallout from the FBI’s arrest of Megaupload’s Kim Dotcom and the seizure of more than $42 million in Megaupload assets is apparent in the decision of FileSonic, one of the top ten file-sharing sites on the Internet with over a quarter of a billion page views per month, to disable its sharing functionality. This decision by FileSonic demonstrates the fear that is running rampant through the Internet’s cyberlocker sites in the wake of the Megaupload arrests (see “FBI Shuts Down Major ‘Piracy’ Site”).

From now on those who use FileSonic can only use the site to upload and receive files that they have uploaded personally. According to CNET, FileSonic has suspended its affiliates reward program, which essentially paid users when people downloaded their files.
