Rio Grande Games has announced the Q2 2013 release of Cinque Terre, a board game designed by Chris Handy in which 2-5 players (ages 10 and up) compete to sell the most valuable produce in markets in five beautiful Italian coastal villages in the picturesque Ligurian region.  The game, which is more about transportation and distribution than agronomy, uses a "pick-up" and "deliver" mechanic.  As befits a game set is such a physically gorgeous region, Cinque Terre features excellent artwork by Martin Hoffman, Claus Stephan, and Mirko Suzuki.  It takes approximately 60 minutes to play.

In the game, which is based on the basic principles of agricultural economy, the players are farmers who operate a cart.  They harvest their produce and use the cart to deliver their goods to the five villages.  Players compete for "Produce Order" cards, which provide them with Lira points for selling desirable produce in specific villages.  Players have to track their sales using "Fulfillment Cards."  The winner of the game is the player who gains the most Lira by selling valuable produce, attaining popularity with customers, and fulfilling "Produce Orders."
