Dark Horse Comics and Nintendo are partnering on an encyclopedia of the Super Mario universe. Super Mario Encyclopedia will span 30 years of franchise history, from the original Super Mario Bros. to Super Mario 3D World. The 256-page hardcover will be on sale October 23 for an MSRP of $39.99.
Super Mario Encyclopedia will cover all seventeen Super Mario games and include an interview with producer Takashi Tezuka, as well as tips for finding every coin, star, sun, and mushroom in the games and explanations of glitches.
Nintendo and Dark Horse have partnered on a number of video game tie-ins, including the New York Times bestseller The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia (see "Dark Horse Has the #1 Book in America"), The Legend of Zelda: Art & Artifacts (see "'The Legend of Zelda: Art & Artifacts'"), and Splatoon (see "Dark Horse Has Splattitude").
Nintendo recently announced a partnership with Illumination to begin production on an animated film set in the world of Super Mario Bros. (see "'Super Mario' Gets Animated, 'Cowboy Ninja Viking' Lands Director, John Cena for 'Duke Nukem'?").
