Aftershock Comics will release a new edition of The Art of Jim Starlin: A Life in Words and Pictures on May 2, just ahead of Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War in theaters (see “First 'Avengers: Infinity War' Trailer”).

The collection was originally released by IDW Publishing in 2010, with those volumes quickly selling out and currently going for north of $500 on Amazon today. Inside are the many creations of Starlin: including Thanos, Gamora, and Drax the Destroyer.  The story covers the artist’s humble beginnings all the way to his rise to the top of the industry to become the “father of the cosmic soap opera.”  The collection includes pictures from Starlin’s files and sketchbooks, personal favorite images, and commentary on his creative process.

The 328-page 9 x 12 hardcover has an MSRP of $49.99.
