Score Entertainment has announced that the second release for the Case Closed Trading Card Game, a 123-card expansion entitled Crime and Punishment, will be released on September 28th. The expansion adds a cool new layer of difficulty by introducing 'Obstacle' cards, which flip-up and help the criminals by getting in the way of the detectives. Crime and Punishment also adds 20 new Criminals and 9 new Detectives as will as 11 new versions of the most popular characters from Gosho Aoyama's Case Closed manga and anime.
The Crime and Punishment Expansion is only available in 10-card booster packs (MSRP $2.99), each of which contains 6 common, 3 uncommon and one rare card. The boosters are available to retailers in 12-pack Display Boxes (MSRP $35.88). The entire expansion includes 40 commons, 40 uncommons, and 35 rare cards along with 8 alternate art promo cards for a total of 123 new cards.
Retailers can obtain new Tournament Kits from Score every month for in-store gaming events. The Tournament Kits include 1 Expansion poster, 1 Case Closed Binder, 20 Participation Promo Cards, a Retailer Letter, and a Scorecard sheet.
Case Closed, which is known as Detective Conan in Japan, is the number one-rated anime TV series there -- and the Score Entertainment Case Closed TCG is based on the 'Uncut' original Japanese anime, which in spite of its diminutive protagonist features forensic gore equal to anything on any of the various CSI TV series here in the States. Because the Score Case Closed TCG mirrors the original Japanese anime (see 'Case Closed TCG Will Be 'Uncut''), it is rated for ages 14 and up. The American version of the Case Closed anime is currently running late nights on the Cartoon Network and Viz's Case Closed manga is a consistent Top 50 Manga performer as noted in ICv2's Retailer's Guide to Anime/Manga.
