Mayfair Games is planning a fourth quarter release for Elasund-The First City of Catan (MSRP $49), the second in a series of Catan Adventures based on the popular Settlers of Catan board game. Like Candamir (see 'Mayfair Plans Settlers 3-D'), the first Catan Adventures release, Elasund-The First City of Catan is based on a Catan novel. In Elasund players compete and cooperate to build the premier city of Catan.
Other Mayfair fourth quarter board game releases include Ostia: The Harbor of Rome (MSRP $25), a board game of commodities and Senatorial favor set in the harbor of Rome; and Barbarossa (MSRP $25) a new edition of a classic Klaus (Catan) Teuber game first published some 20 years ago.
Mayfair recently took over as the U.S. representative for Phalanx Games (see 'Mayfair to Represent Phalanx Games'), and plans to release three Phalanx board games in the fourth quarter including Mesopotamia, in which players struggle to build civilizations and temples in the cradle of civilization; Hey! That's My Fish (MSRP $30) in which players take on the roles of penguins plucking fish frantically while based on a fast fading ice flow; and World War I (MSRP $45), an elaborate board game based on 'the war to end all wars.'
