Warner Home Video has announced that The Matrix Reloaded DVD (and VHS) will premier on October 14, some three weeks before the opening of the final film in the futuristic science fiction series, The Matrix Revolutions .

McFarlane Toys has provided a first look at its toys for the Wachowski brothers' Matrix trilogy.

With the appearance of the second Matrix film delayed until 2003, Warner Bros. has decided to release a disk full of new behind-the-scenes Matrix features, but without the film itself.

The Matrix hardcover collects work, including some previously unpublished, by all-star talent including Neil Gaiman, Geof Darrow, Dave Gibbons, Bill Sienkiewicz, Peter Bagge, David Lapham, Paul Chadwick, Michael Kaluta, and many more.

Red Pill Productions is planning to release a 160-page trade paperback volume, The Matrix Comics , in mid-October.

With a four-day Memorial Day weekend estimated total of $86 million, the Jim Carrey comedy Bruce Almighty delivered a convincing blow to The Matrix Reloaded .

The Matrix Revolutions set an international record in its opening weekend, with a five-day box office gross of $204.1 million, beating Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers , which did $200 million in a similar period last year.

While it is not a record, The Matrix Reloaded videos performed extremely well during their first day on sale, moving a combined 4 million DVDs and VHS tapes.

Critics will surely point out that the nine segments of the Animatrix are uneven in style, tone, and relevance to the Matrix mythos, but it is hard to deny that watching this 90-minute, nine-part anthology provides viewers with new insights into the Matrix films as well as plenty of sheer entertainment. More importantly, given the enormous popularity of The Matrix Reloaded the features should help expand the audience for anime.

The Matrix Reloaded earned an estimated four-day total of $135.8 million, sending it past Spider-Man's $125.9 million for the all-time best four-day cumulative box office receipts.
