In either a surprising lapse of censorship or a surprising liberalization of media, the film based on Alan Moore’s V for Vendetta was shown on China state broadcaster CCTV’s film channel, according to Variety.  The film and the mask popularized by it have taken on considerable significance as emblems of anti-establishment political views (see, for example, this re-enactment last month "'V for Vendetta' Finale Re-enacted"), making it an unusually subversive film to make it by the Chinese government’s censors. 

Comments on the film on the microblog service Weibo were deleted by censors, according to the report.
