Mike Boze of HawgHead Comics in Fort Smith, Arkansas saw John Riley's comments about the limited availability of Captain America #25 (see 'Sharpening the Sword--Captain America Died') and agrees that this was a missed opportunity to sell to non-comics-reading customers:

I have to agree with John 100%.  Even before I had a chance to open the store (I actually think that many would have called me at home if they had my number) and check through the boxes from UPS, the phone was ringing.  The first one being a voice asking if I 'had the comic where Captain America dies!', I so wanted to say 'THANKS for spoiling it for me,' but the point is I had so many calling wanting not only 'a copy' but multiple copies and I also limited each person to one each.

The irony was that all of the calls in the beginning were from non-comic book readers.

The whole episode reminds me of the way of practice just a few short years ago.  Of those days of no overprint and no reprints... I guess Marvel stills thinks we're not smart enough to order accordingly and maybe we aren't... then again how many copies of Superman #75 did DC Comics print??
