Bowen Designs has clarified the confusing licensing situation that has both Bowen and Diamond Select producing Marvel resin products at the same time.  Diamond Select's acquisition of the Marvel license for statues, busts, bookends, and other products was announced last summer (see 'Diamond Select To Do Ultimate Statues'), but as Diamond announced its first Marvel product, the Ultimate Storm Bust, Bowen was also continuing to solicit new Marvel items (see 'Diamond Select Kicks off Marvel Statue Production').

Now in an announcement posted on its Website, Bowen has listed the dates for the expiration of the three components of its license.  The full-size statue license will expire March 2002 (Storm will be the last full size Marvel statue from Bowen).  The mini-bust license will expire in December of 2002, and Bowen plans to release about twenty more busts (after Silver Surfer) before the license expires.  The mini-statue license will expire in December 2003.

Randy Bowen, the sculptor of the Bowen Designs products and owner of the company, also answered the question of what he'd do next. 'A little rest for God's sake,' sounded like his main goal; he said he hadn't had a vacation in three years and had been sculpting for fifteen years solid.  The announcement also said that he was going to be '...sculpting some original pieces and working with some independent creators.'
