Wizards of the Coast is working with Sony to create and distribute trading cards for the new The Eye of Judgment PS3 videogame due out this fall.  In the game, players bring trading card creatures to life to do battle in 3D by holding encrypted cards in front of the Playstation Eye, which reads the cards and loads the characters into the game. 

The game is played with a 3'x3' game board and cards in addition to the videogame and PS3 system.  Players work their way across the board, strategically choosing which card/creature to play in order to capture five of nine squares.

'Together we're creating a virtual world that brings fantastic trading card-based creatures to life for unprecedented interactive battles that will appeal to millions of fans around the world,' said Phil Jackson, Group Executive of Hasbro Games.

The Eye of Judgment received the Japan Game Award in the 'Futures' catetory at the Tokyo Game Show.
