ADV Films has acquired the home video and broadcast rights to both the 13-episode Air series and the Air Movie.  The first DVD release, volume one of the four-disc set for the series, will street August 14th.  The Air Movie will be released on DVD in late 2007. 

ADV was able to license both the series and the feature despite the fact that they have different corporate lineages.  The series is produced by Kyoto Animation (Inuyasha, Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid), while the movie was produced by Toei.

The 2004/2005 series was directed by Tatsuya Ishihara (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Kanon); the feature by Oasmu Dezaki (Black Jack the Movie).   

The lead character, a wandering puppeteer, pieces together the lives of three different girls as he searches for the 'girl in the sky.'
