According to The Hollywood Reporter Warner Bros. Pictures is working on a live action adaptation of DC Comics' Teen Titans supergroup comic book.  The Titans debuted in 1964 and made their first 'official' appearance in the Brave & the Bold #60 as a sort of 'League of Rather Ordinary Sidekicks' comprised of Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad, Wonder Girl and Speedy (Green Arrow's boy helper).  Marv Wolfman and George Perez revived the franchise in a major way in1980 with the launching of The New Teen Titans, which added a number of non-sidekick characters (including Raven, Starfire and Cyborg) and allowed Robin to morph into Nightwing.  In the process of transforming their teenage heroes Wolfman and Perez managed to create some of the most interesting and narratively complex mainstream comics of the modern era.

The influence of the Perez/Wolfman New Teen Titans can clearly be seen in the plots and characterizations in the anime-like Teen Titans Animated series that ran on the Cartoon Network from 2003-2006.  Warner Bros. has not announced which Teen Titans characters will appear in the new film, though according to the Reporter, 'Nightwing is in the mix.'  Mark Verheiden, who is a veteran comic book writer with a career that includes stints at Dark Horse (Aliens) and DC (Phantom, Superman), and who is currently a writer/producer for the critically-acclaimed TV series Battlestar Galactica, has been tapped to write the screenplay for the new Teen Titans live action movie, which is being produced by Akiva Goldman and Kerry Foster through their Weed Road production company, which also has several other comic book-based productions in development including Doom Patrol and The Losers.
