In a statement posted on the Fullmetal Alchemist Trading Card Game Website, Press Pass proclaimed: 'After seven great sets and two wonderful years, it is with great sadness that we are today announcing that Press Pass Inc. will no longer manufacture any future products for the Fullmetal Alchemist TCG.' Press Pass released the Sacrifice expansion for the FMA TCG in February, but has no plans to release any additional products for the game.
Press Pass' Edward Bolme blamed the demise of the FMA TCG on 'today's competitive environment,' noting that the company has 'been unable to sustain the necessary numbers to keep FMA TCG as a viable product.'
Press Pass will still hold the World Championships for the FMA TCG at GenCon Indy in August, and the company is attempting to launch a Player's Committee to oversee organized play activity in the future. An electronic version of the FMA TCG for the Nintendo DS created by Destineer Studio is due out later this summer.
