Variety is reporting that Benderspink, the company that produced Road to Perdition and is developing Y: The Last Man at New Line, has optioned Mark Powers' science fiction saga Drafted, which is published by Devil's Due.  Drafted is still quite a long way from the silver screen since Benderspink has not yet assigned a writer to the project nor has it found a studio/distribution partner.

Drafted is the sort of high concept science fiction comic that would have appeal to the company that is adapting Y: The Last Man.  In Drafted, a group of aliens known as The Benefactors 'help' mankind defend itself from another more malevolent alien race, but it quickly becomes necessary to draft everybody to engage in this life or death struggle where defeat could mean extermination.

Devil's Due has a number of other properties in development for the big screen including Lost Squad and Hack/Slash as well as Nightwolf, which is set up for TV (see 'Fox Options Devil's Due's Nightwolf').
