Mongoose Publishing announced it will be the new source for the Traveller game system upon publication of its core rule book, Traveller: Science-Fiction Adventures in the Far Future, in February. Formerly published by GDW (see 'Fifteen Years Ago this Month'), Traveller has been available only in reprints for the past 10 years. After re-issuing the core rules, Mongoose will produce supplements, adventures and sourcebooks as well as introduce Traveller into its licensed settings starting with Starship Troopers and Strontium Dogs which will create transportability of characters, concepts and equipment between various systems.

Also on the docket are plans to produce a Traveller5 (T5) CD ROM (about 1,000 pages of material) later this year and a 350-page printed Travellers5 Core Rules book in the first half of 2008.  T5 will be compatible with the original Traveller and will be considered a superset to the original rules, providing  unique and detailed coverage of the rules, concept and history.

Mongoose also announced it will make Traveller rules available under the Open Gaming License (OGL) and will make Traveller Logo Licenses (TLL) available to licensees.
