Navarre Corporation issued its earnings report for its first quarter of fiscal 2008 ending June 30th, which showed that its subsidiary FUNimation had net sales growth over the same period last year due to strong sell-in of Afro Samurai and continued sell-through of the Dragon Ball Z series sets.  FUNimation also saw continued growth of its anime content available through iTunes and xBox Live Marketplace.

Overall, Navarre saw a 3.7% increase in net sales over last year totaling $137 million compared to $132.2 million, while the publishing division, of which FUNimation is a part, saw net sales increase 13.8% to $29.6 million. 

Within the publishing division, FUNimation was credited with a strong performance; Encore also had net sales growth due to launches of strong brands like Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and Monopoly, while BCI suffered continued sales declines for its vintage TV series on DVD. Navarre stated it will work on repositioning and leveraging BCI's  'corporate DVD video distribution assets.'
