Although The Simpsons Movie is still in theaters where it has earned $173 million so far, Twentieth Century Fox has announced the release of The Simpsons Movie DVD (MSRP $29.95) on December 18th.  The 87-minute animated feature comes with lots of extras including commentaries from a number of animators, producers, and voice actors, five deleted scenes, and five promos including a great bit from The Tonight Show.

The release of The Simpsons Movie spurred sales of the Simpsons comic collections from Bongo Comics especially in the bookstore market where they are distributed by Harper Collins.  The Simpsons are currently the number one humor property in the bookstore market and the release of the Simpsons DVD in December should provide a holiday boost for sales of Simpsons comic book collections.
