Variety is reporting that a film based on the Humanoids series Lucha Libre, written by Jerry Frissen with art by Bill and Gobi, will start shooting early next year.  The film, titled Luchadores 5, will tell the comedic story of a group of Latino wrestlers based in East LA who form a masked vigilante group. 

Pierre Spengler, who produced the original Superman films, will produce.  Luchadores 5 will be the first in a 12-picture deal with Humanoids. 

Earlier in this decade, Humanoids tried publishing on its own in the States and then licensed its titles to DC, which ended the relationship after a year (see 'DC Exits Euro-Lines').  Image Comics is releasing hte first issue of its Lucha Libre comic this week.
