Del Rey Books has acquired the rights to publish tie-in books based on the eagerly anticipated fourth movie in the Indiana Jones series, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which is due in theaters on May 22nd, 2008.  Del Rey plans to publish a novelization written by bestselling author James Rollins (The Judas Strain, Black Order, and Map of Bones), as well as The Making Of Indiana Jones by Laurent Bouzereau and J.R. Rinzler, a behind-the-scenes look at the people, places and events of all four Indiana Jones movies from Raiders of the Lost Ark to Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

The three previous Indiana Jones films have collected 14 Academy Award nominations, won 7 Oscars, and earned over $1.1 billion at the box office.  It is fitting that Del Rey acquired the license since Del Rey published novels based on the first three Indiana Jones films as well as the first Star Wars novel.
