SLG is publishing Contraband both on its paid download Website (eyemelt.com) and as a graphic novel collection in February.  Contraband, a new comic book series from artist Phil Elliott and writer Thomas Behe, illuminates a dark and desperate near future world where profit-hungry kids prowl the streets secretly filming violence and catastrophes with their cell phones.  Sometimes, like William Randolph Hearst's reporters in Cuba, if these underground mobile phone 'voyeurs' can't find something suitably sensational to shoot, they create the mayhem themselves.  

The protagonist of Contraband, Toby, is a self-described 'citizen journalist' exploring this underground world of content-hungry, cell phone-armed amateurs, when he is discovered and forced to work for one of the leading purveyors of this new form of shock journalism -- the Contraband Network.  The first of four issues of this cutting edge comic book series is up on the eyemelt Website now, with subsequent issues going up in monthly intervals.  The Contraband graphic novel, which will include all four issues, will be solicited in the December issue of Diamond's Previews.
