Mayfair Games has announced that it will be taking preorders through January 25th on Lascaux (MSRP $30.00), an innovative card game designed by Dominque Ehrhard and Michel Lalet (and published in Germany by Phalanx) that takes its visual cues from the stunning cave paintings from the Upper Paleolithic era (13,000 to 15,000 BC) found in the caves of Lascaux in southwestern France. The game, which was introduced at the Essen Game Fair in 2007, includes 54 cards featuring images of animals as well as 50 stones and 30 cardboard tokens. Players attempt to acquire the most animals by spending stones at the right time and outfoxing other players.
