Studio Gonzo parent GDH has announced a year-long experiment in providing P2P (peer to peer) fee-based downloads of its Speedgrapher and Project PAPO anime series via its own Website.  The entire 24 episode Speedgrapher anime series, which has already been released in the U.S. by FUNimation, will be available in a download-to-own/copy protected format.  The price per downloaded episode in standard definition (1 MB) is 500 Yen ($4.37 at the current rate of exchange) via a special offer that extends until January 31st (thereafter each episode will cost 1000 Yen or $8.74).  The episodes will also be available in a 3 MB high definition format for 750 Yen ($6.55) until January 31st and then for 1500 Yen ($13.11) thereafter.

Gonzo is also making available seven 2.5-minute episodes of Project PAPO, a series of short anime films about a mysterious robot that uses sound as a weapon often to devastating effect.  Project PAPO is being produced by Gonzo Rosso, a unit devoted to the production of videogames and online games in particular.  The episodes of Project PAPO (which has not been released in the U.S. yet) can be downloaded-to-own for 150 Yen ($1.31) per episode in standard definition (1 MB), high definition (3MB), and ultra high definition (8MB) formats (for Project PAPO, the price appears to be the same for all three formats).

Gonzo will also be providing free downloads of the trailer for its upcoming series, The Tower of Druaga for promotional purposes.
