The dispute over key Valiant trademarks including Valiant, Harbinger, Bloodshot, Rai and the Future Force, and others, has been settled, with Valiant Entertainment owning all Valiant-related trademarks.

Valiant Entertainment is the publisher of the Harbinger:  The Beginning hardcover collection, which Diamond Comic Distributors had refused to distribute due to the dispute (see 'Diamond Not Carrying the Harbinger Hardcover').  As a result of the settlement, Diamond will resolicit the Harbinger hardcover in the February issue of Previews.

The dispute arose when newly formed company Valiant Intellectual Properties LLC filed intent to use trademark applications on Valiant marks in 2005.  Valiant Entertainment, which acquired the rights to the library from the bankrupt estate of Acclaim Entertainment filed oppositions to the applications.

Valiant Entertainment also filed suit against Valiant Intellectual Properties on August 29th over the release of an ashcan using some of the properties at San Diego Comic-Con in July.  The settlement resolves the lawsuit 'to Valiant Entertainment's satisfaction,' according to Valiant Entertainment CEO Jason Kothari.

Valiant's X-O Manowar collection (see 'Valiant Plans X-O Manowar') will also be solicited in the February Previews.
