Viz Media has laid out its plan for a new imprint of omnibus editions of its most popular manga titles. The new imprint, VizBig, launches this month with the first Rurouni Kenshin volume, Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z launching in May, and Vagabond in September. New volumes will be released quarterly.
Although the volumes, like other omnibus editions, offer good price-per-page value ($17.99 for three volumes worth of material), Viz has chosen to vary the presentation in ways that make the new editions attractive not only to new consumers, but also to fans that may have bought the same material previously in one or more other editions. New cover art will dress the VizBig volumes, which will have a slightly larger trim size (5-3/4 x 8-5/8) than most manga, and a 'premium' presentation.
The first volume of each VizBig series will include bonus color pages and special content such as character art, author interviews, and updated text.
