Bandai Visual USA has announced the acquisition of the 26-episode Haruka -- Beyond the Stream of Time anime series.  Bandai Visual will release the first Haruka DVD volume (of nine) for an MSRP of $29.99.

The anime series, which aired in Japan in 2004 and 2005, is based on the PlayStation 2 'romance adventure video game' produced by Koei that found favor with a large female audience in Japan.

In April Viz Media will release the first Haruka -- Beyond the Stream of Time manga volume (Viz Media has already released several volumes of the La Corda D'Oro manga, which is based on another Koei 'romance' game).

The Bandai Visual USA Haruka DVDs will be subtitled only -- there will be no English language dub, a format that may become increasingly common for all but the anime series with the very most potential for TV exposure and DVD sales in the American market.  Like the video game on which it is based the Haruka anime series, which was directed by Aki Tsunaki, is targeted at a female audience (as is the Haruka manga series, which is currently appearing in Viz Media's Shojo Beat magazine).

As is common with Bandai Visual releases, the Haruka DVD will come with some nice extras including an eight-page booklet.
