It truly was the 'Year of the Rat' at the 35th annual Annie Awards where Pixar's Ratatouille took home nine awards including all the major animated feature honors such as 'Best Animated Feature,' 'Best Director' (Brad Bird), 'Best Writing' (Brad Bird), 'Best Character Design,' and 'Best Production Design.'  Ratatouille's strong performance at the Annies is another indicator, if anyone needs one, that it is the clear frontrunner for the 'Best Animated Feature' Oscar.

In other Annie Awards of note Futurama: Bender's Big Score, took home the 'Best Home Entertainment Production Award' in the direct-to-DVD category where it beat out the Marvel-licensed Dr. Strange movie; and Aardman Animation's short-lived Creature Comforts America won the award for Best Animated Television Production.  Ian Maxtone-Graham and Billy Kimball won the 'Best Writing in a Television Production' for their work on '24 Minutes,' The Simpsons' parody of Fox's 24.
