The London-based independent production company Power has optioned the film and television rights to Anthony Lappe's near future, politically-based graphic novel Shooting War, which was published in November by Grand Central Publishing.  The plan is to create an edgy TV series that examines 'The War on Terror,' the role of the media, and the rise of 'citizen journalism,' -- the topics raised by Lappe in his graphic novel, which was illustrated by Dan Goldman (see 'Shooting War Graphic Novel').

Shooting War, which is set in 2011, skewers the mainstream media, the radical blogosphere, Islamic Jihadists, Lou Dobbsian xenophobes, videogames (Infidel Massacre: Los Angeles), and celebrity news ('Tom Cruise and Mary-Kate Olson Call It Quits') as well as the Iraq War.

Power is currently co-producing a 13-episode Crusoe series for NBC, as well as XIII: The Conspiracy, a feature film that stars Val Kilmer and Stephen Dorff in an adaptation of the hit European graphic novel series by Jan van Hamme, and The Summit, a two-part political mini-series staring Christopher Plummer and James Purefoy.
