Michael Costello of  Downtown Comics in Indianapolis, Indiana saw Michael Breakfield's comments about proliferating profanity (see 'Michael Breakfield of Lone Star Comics on '@#$%''), and says he couldn't agree more:

I saw Michael's comments and couldn't agree more.  The kicker came this week in fact, as I looked upon the new cover of Blue Beetle #24.  Supposedly this is a teenage character book that is supposed to attract a younger teen audience.  In his statement, 'Rot in HELL, Reach!' hell is of course capitalized in RED. Just great.

As to some of his examples, I can 'understand' the use of such language in All-Star Batman & Robin, the Boy Wonder (Miller's Batman to the Nth degree already has nothing redeeming about him) and even in a book like New Avengers where Spider-Man doesn't swear, but Wolverine, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and even Jessica Drew are all true vulgarians.  But Superman?  Teen Titans?  There should be a line, but unfortunately like TV and movies, that line has been crossed and it just gets easier.  Hopefully instances where it appears in plain view will be few and far between.
