As the primary election season drags on, perhaps it's time to step back from the fray and lighten up with the help of Stan Lee's new collection of humorously-captioned photos of top political figures. Shipping from Filsinger Publishing at the end of the month, Stan Lee's Election Daze ($9.95, ISBN 978-0-9702631-5-5) is 96-page collection of photographs by Capitol Hill photographer Lauren Victoria Burke with word balloon captions from the co-creator of Spider-Man and X-Men.
Lee has said he got the idea for the new book at a recent comic book convention when a fan presented Lee with copy of his first book of photo humor, Golfers Anonymous, which the comic book icon had published back in 1961. Lee said that he was so busy writing comics in the 1960s that he never had an opportunity to follow up his first effort at creating fumetti, but that upon seeing Golfers Anonymous once again, he quickly came up with the idea of "zeroing in on the political campaign."
